Concert for Heroes

Chateau Impney Droitwich

Kidderminster Male Choir is pleased to announce that the Band of the West Midlands Fire Service will now be joined by members of the Band of the Royal Air Force (Cosford) for the spectacular Chateau

The concert in aid of the military ‘Battle Back Centre’ based at the Lilleshall Sports Academy, Shropshire is being hailed as an iconic concert for this International Award Winning choir.

The ‘Battle Back Centre’ works with ill and injured military personnel with the purpose, through sport and outward bounds, of either returning them to their units or ready for the rigors of civilian life.

The ‘Battle Back Centre’ receives no government financial input and is funded solely by the ‘Royal British Legion’ and individual donations.

Members of the choir visited the centre to observe, at first hand, the work of the organization and were amazed at the progress injured military personnel made having spent a short time at the centre.

As one of those members of the choir who visited the centre remarked.

“It was one of the most humbling and moving experiences”

“One of the first people I met was a female soldier who, at the age of 22, had lost both legs, beneath the knees, due to an explosive device detonating close to where she was standing and yet her attitude to life and her future was unbelievably positive”

“The ‘Battle Back Center’ deserves all the help it can get to continue it’s amazing work with these incredible people who have put their lives at risk for the sake of world peace”

“So please make a date Friday April 20th 7.30pm and support our ‘Concert for Heroes’.

This concert is sponsored and supported by Jones Park Home Estates

Our Concert Secretary wanted to say Why ?

Hi Kurt, You may be aware of a tragedy that happened in Manchester England just over a week ago 22nd May 2017. A suicide bomber attacked a concert as the audience was leaving and killed 22 people, mostly under 18 who had attended the concert. My choir, the Kidderminster Male Choir, based in Kidderminster England are performing an outdoor concert on June 17th and intend to sing your amazing ‘Prayer of the Children’ as a tribute to those who lost their lives or were injured. Just thought you might like to know. It is an incredible piece of music which we have sung at an earlier concert in a beautiful medieval abbey where the stunning acoustics added a haunting feel to the piece. Thank you for using your fabulous talent to bring this superb piece to a grateful choir.

Hello Stephen – than you so much for the kind words and for letting me know about your choir paying tribute to the Manchester victims with my song. It is exactly for this type of purpose that I wrote it. I only wish that the tragedies around the world would end and the song could be sung from a historical standpoint. I guess we have to keep praying (and singing) for the children. Cheers! Kurt (Composer from Utah USA)

Please Listen to KMC’s Rendition of this haunting

and yet beautiful piece of music below.

KMC were able to support 3 local good causes this Christmas with gifts of £600 each.

We aimed to support the young, the seniors and our spiritual home.

Rev Rose spoke to say thank you for the generous donation

on behalf of St Marys Church Kidderminster

For the seniors we supported Kidderminster Prostate Support Group. The group work tirelessly in Kidderminster to bring awareness and support to those who are affected. They were recently awarded the Queens Award for Charity. A leading figure in the organisation is Colin Tomkinson who is a former member of KMC.

Woodsetton School

Woodsetton School are a special needs school who are raising money to buy a new mini bus with special facilities for disabled children. This enables the children to go out into the community to further their education and life experiences. 8 members of the choir attended a special Christmas assembly at the school where we sang to the children, they sang to us and we all sang together. It was a very warm, and humbling experience. We handed over the cheque to Mrs Guest, a teacher at the school, in front of the children.
